The Chancellor Roles and Responsibilities

Position Role

​

The Chancellor for the Royal House of Kupang is the chief executive officer of The Great Chancellery. Appointed directly by the Raja, Don Leopold Nisnoni, the Chancellor is responsible for the quality and effectiveness of all programs and for establishing a culture of compliance and dedicating public relations and educational resources as necessary to ensure the promotion, relations, development, and visibility of the People and Culture of Kupang and Timor West Region.

The Chancellor provides leadership to the executive vice-chancellor and other officers.

​

The Chancellor is responsible for the leadership of the Governing Authority as Chair of its meetings. They are responsible for ensuring that the necessary business of the Governing Authority is carried out efficiently, effectively, and in a manner appropriate for the proper conduct of public business.

The Chancellery of the House of Kupang is responsible for ensuring that its Leading Authority conducts itself according to the accepted standards of behavior in public life. These include attention to integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, and honesty at meetings of its governing and representational objectives.

The Chancellor exercises personal leadership, promotes responsible governance within the Central Authorities, supports the activities of the Royal House of Kupang, and advances the profile of its people, the Royal Family, and Its various cultural aspects in the public forum.

The Activities of the Chancellery


The Chancellor is responsible for ensuring that the Governing Authority exercises control over the Public relations' strategic directives through an effective planning process. As a result, the Chancelleries performance is adequately assessed against the objectives that the Governing Authority has approved.


The Chancellery shall establish a constructive and supportive working relationship with the Royal House of Kupang and its agents.


Any arrangements for the Chancellery to act as a formal signatory on behalf of the Royal House of Kupang and its agents shall be made known to the kingdom's Governing Authority.


The Chancellor must be a resourceful and creative problem-solver. The Chancellor must have the ability to forge relationships and partnerships to develop reliable funding sources, align talent and resources to support its guiding mission, and meet the needs of our community and the citizens of the Royal Kingdom of Kupang.

Other Responsibilities

​

  • Preside at convocation ceremonies and confer all Awards and Honors;

  • Host, attend or preside at other special events on behalf of The Royal House of Kupang;

  • Represent The Royal House of Kupang in an official capacity at external functions from time to time and advance the Chancelleries mission through their role as an Ambassador;

  • Support and promote the mission and values of The Royal House of Kupang;

  • Promote and further the strategic goals and ambitions of The Royal House of Kupang;

  • Act in an advisory and supportive role to the Royal House In matters related to projects, ceremonies, and awards;

  • Provide leadership and advice in fundraising campaigns and relations with donors.

External Role


The Chancellor is expected to represent and promote the profile of the Royal House of Kupang in the public forum. Therefore, serving as Chancellor for the Noble and Royal House of Kupang constitutes effective public service.
The Chancellor is invited to use personal influence and networking skills on behalf of the Royal House of Kupang.


The Chancellor plays a major role in liaising between key social stakeholders, nonprofits, and governmental agencies in the States. This role, in particular, should be exercised in a carefully coordinated fashion with the vice-chancellor, Pro Chancellors, and other Honorary officers.
